Coyote Sightings in Our Neighborhood — Community Reminder
Coyote Sightings in Our Neighborhood — Community Reminder
Hello neighbors — a coyote has recently been spotted roaming in our area. Coyotes are native to Colorado and are often seen in both urban and suburban settings, especially this time of year. While they typically avoid people, it’s a good opportunity for all of us to be mindful of our pets and surroundings.
Coyotes may view small unattended dogs as potential prey, so please keep an eye on pets in yards or on walks, especially smaller dogs. Supervising pets outdoors, keeping them on a leash, and limiting outdoor food or water sources can help reduce the likelihood of wildlife visits.
If you do see a coyote:
Stay calm and give the animal space.
Make noise or wave your arms to encourage it to move on — coyotes tend to avoid humans.
